Teaching English in LDS Wards in English-Speaking Countries
This new section of my website is about teaching English in your ward. It's not about the programs often run by missionaries in other countries, but rather about teaching immigrants in your ward or stake who want to learn English.
I am by no means an expert. Earlier this year, I was called as the Literacy Leader in the Relief Society and asked to create an ESL program. I could find almost nothing from an LDS standpoint or that didn't include alcohol and coffee, so this section, although created by a beginner, is...well, better than nothing!
It will include tips, lesson plans, and worksheets that include LDS vocabulary.

Beginning LDS ESL Curriculum
I am posting descriptions of my lesson plans here. If I get permission to use the church graphics, I will also post the workbook pages. Otherwise, I will re-create them using free graphics. In the meantime, they are described, with a link to the graphics source.
My beginning class, until last week, was all non-LDS, so I am teaching basic words first, and gradually adding in LDS content. We did teach the word Jesus first, simply by showing a picture of Him and writing and saying His name.
Lessons are not necessarily a full class length, due to review and differences in what students already know. You may need to teach more than one lesson in a session or divide a lesson into several parts.
Lesson 1: Introductory People Words and Sentences
Lesson 2: Colors, Shapes, Numbers
Lesson 3: Clothing
Lesson 4: Body
Lesson 5: Transportation
Lesson 6: Animals
Lesson 7: Weather
Lesson 8: Noah's Ark
Lesson 9: Calendars
Intermediate LDS ESL worksheets
Worksheet: Conjugating the word "teach." Intermediate or advanced beginners. The LDS sentences largely refer to Relief Society, but you can easily change this.

Flashcard template (PDF): Use this to create personalized vocabulary flashcards. I inserted a graphic on one side, printed, and then wrote the word on the other side by hand. This was used to teach nouns and verbs to beginners whose language I don't speak.
